Cheese

It's amazing how excited I get about cheese. Good cheese is such a rare commodity in Korea that finding it becomes an event.

Jen and I ate at a buffet/salad bar a couple of days ago....

Ashley the restaurant is next to Wayne the cake shop and opposite Kevin the shitter.

Jen.

A weird burger and potato thing....with a grim cheese sauce. Wait...what's that on top of the burger?

It's fucking fresh Parmesan!!! Wooooow!!

Dangu

One of the best discoveries I've made since moving to Korea is Dangu. Dangu is Korean billiards. It's either played with 3 balls.....argghhh a mosquito just tried to suck my blood. Little fucker. I'm a peaceful man. I don't kill anything deliberately, we all have a right to be here. All of us except for mozzies. Nicking someone's blood is just plain out of order. Anyway, back to ball sports. Dangu is either played with 3 or 4 balls. I play the 4 ball version. You have a table, about the size of a pool table but, with no pockets, 2 red balls, 1 white ball and 1 yellow ball. The idea is to hit either the yellow or white ball and make contact with both red balls without hitting the remaining yellow or white. It's like only playing the positional shots in snooker.......which is a lot more fun than it sounds.

I think one of the reasons I enjoy it so much is the interaction with othe people. Dangu is played predominantly by men. I've only seen 2 women play Dangu and one of the worked at the place. It's like a men's club. Dude's play Dangu, chat, rip on each other, smoke and just generally hang out. I'm getting kind of addicted to it.

It's the first stop on many good nights out and it can also be the whole night out when you order take away food and booze to be delivered.

Footie

I went to my very first Pohang Steeler's game this past Saturday. A sunny day, football, friends, hot girls and men with cardboard on their heads. That is the way to spend an afternoon.

Shame we lost 1 - 0.

Birthday

The sun shines. You light a barbecue. You invite some good friends. There is meat, vegetables and fruit being eaten. The drinks begin to flow and everyone is having a grand old time. Stories about absent members and adventures taken are shared and the group strengthens a bond. Then the party moves onto a new destination. The groups disperse, people mingle into new groups, all the while the drink flows. Then the inevitable food cravings take hold and once again the group moves to a new location to sample a new atmosphere and new flavours. Then, at an imperceptible moment, a change occurs. What was once a person brimming with ebullience, joy and laughter becomes this....

Comic

I've been feeling all full of cold recently. I hate being ill. I hate being ill especially when I still have to go to work.

I walked back to my office, after struggling through my lessons, and dropped my stuff on the desk. A package caught my eye. It was addressed to me. What was it?

It was these lovely bastards.....

Comic books...yeaaaahhhh!!!

Han

It's just over 2 weeks until I fly to Korea. It kinda feels like I'm in limbo at the moment.Like I'm between lives.

I have most of my paperwork done and TaLK are organising the flights and whatnot, so I don't have much to do in that regards. All I have to do is get busy selling a bunch of stuff that I won't be taking with me so that I can afford to buy a new laptop. Fingers crossed I can raise the dough before I go.

Man, I was really hoping my first blog post would be really interesting. I guess it kind of sums up the state of my life so far. Hopefully it's the calm before the storm. A nice storm though.
